First look inside subsea habitat for scientist‑aquanauts

Ocean engineering firm DEEP has unveiled "Vanguard," a prototype subsea habitat designed to house four people for missions of a week or more. Norman Smith, Chief Technology Officer at DEEP, said it will give researchers longer access to the seafloor than short dives from the surface. Human Performance Diver Lead Kirk Krack said the system is meant to support continuous diving for research and training.
