Adolf Hitler (1889–1945) was a German political leader who rose to power as the head of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazi Party). Born in Braunau am Inn, Austria, Hitler served in the German army during World War I and later became known for his intense nationalism and antisemitic beliefs.

In 1933, he was appointed Chancellor of Germany, and by 1934 he had consolidated power as Führer, establishing a totalitarian dictatorship. His regime pursued aggressive expansionist policies, leading to the outbreak of World War II in 1939 with the invasion of Poland. Under his rule, Nazi Germany perpetrated the Holocaust, resulting in the systematic murder of six million Jews and millions of other civilians.

Hitler’s military ambitions ultimately brought devastation to Europe. Facing defeat as Allied forces closed in, he died by suicide in Berlin on April 30, 1945. His actions and ideology left a legacy of immense human suffering and remain a warning about the dangers of totalitarianism, propaganda, and racial hatred.
