Five new suspects arrested in connection with Louvre robbery

Five more suspects have been arrested in connection with the €88 million Louvre jewel heist, though the stolen treasures remain missing, Paris prosecutors said.

One of the new detainees was linked to the crime by DNA evidence, while others may help explain how the robbery was carried out.

Two suspects arrested earlier admitted partial involvement and face charges of organized theft and criminal conspiracy, The Guardian has reported.

The October 19 raid saw thieves posing as workers use a stolen truck and power tools to steal eight historic jewels, including pieces once owned by Napoleon’s wives, in under seven minutes.
