The Adversary Mode "Slasher IV" in GTA Online is a tense, atmospheric PvP game mode where two teams face off in a dark, confined environment, such as the Ramius submarine map. One team plays as the Slashers, who are hunters armed with shotguns and machetes, aiming to eliminate the other team, the Hunted, who start unarmed but equipped with flashlights and thermal goggles to help them evade capture. Each player has only one life per round.

The gameplay uses a cyclical role swap mechanic every 60 seconds or a set time, where teams alternate being the hunters and the hunted. Initially, the Hunted have only flashlights, but after a few minutes (commonly 3 minutes), they get shotguns themselves to fight back in close-quarters combat. The team that eliminates all opponents first wins the round. The mode emphasizes stealth, strategy, and sudden bursts of chaotic combat in confined, dark arenas.

The recently featured version on the Ramius submarine is noted for its eerie atmosphere and claustrophobic setting, enhancing the suspense and horror feel as players navigate the pitch-black submarine corridors trying to survive or hunt. This mode also offers double cash and RP rewards during events, adding incentive to play.
