Brewing Espresso Shots using an Astra Mega IIc Espresso Machine

This is a demo making espresso on an Astra Manufacturing espresso machine.
This machine has self-tamping heads, eliminating the need to hand tamp. This is one of the features that got me into buying the Astra machines as I used them at events and festivals, this meant I could make the espresso much faster which is key to making $$$$.
I was also able to brew the espresso into taller 16oz cups directly (faster) eliminating the need to brew into a smaller stainless pitcher and pour into the cup. It also means the customer gets 100% of the aromatic oils in their drink and all the flavor.
I had my grinder set up to where I put the portafilter underneath, and pulling the lever twice dosed out the correct amount for a long double shot (about 3oz) All drinks were doubles which the customers liked, never had a single complaint, only repeat customers :)
I also brewed shots into a stainless pitcher to add to the cold drinks I served as well.
This machine was able to brew espresso continuously due to the water for the espresso coming from two internal tank heated by the water and steam in the main tank. This produced a nice high temp, high pressure extraction to get the most flavor out of the Espresso grounds.

In this demo I used Trader Joe's Espresso which was not ground as fine as I normally used, this is explained in the video. I no longer have the grinder I used as I sold it.

I’m wearing nitrile gloves as the water is very hot, gloves are recommended.

This machine is an Astra model Mega IIc (2c) c is for compact. It is 2000 watts, 110 volts. It's available in 220 volts as well
The Mega II is larger, 220 volt, has 3 steam wands and a water spout.
