Balmaki Ashram

🌿 Introduction

Balmiki Ashram (वाल्मिकी आश्रम) is a sacred and historic site located in Madi Municipality, Ward No. 1, Chitwan District, within the buffer zone of Chitwan National Park in Nepal. Surrounded by dense forest and the serene flow of the Narayani River, it is one of the most spiritually important destinations in southern Nepal. The ashram is believed to be the ancient hermitage of Sage Valmiki, the revered author of the Ramayana, one of the greatest epics in Hindu literature. According to Hindu scriptures, this is the place where Sita, wife of Lord Rama, spent her days in exile after being banished from Ayodhya. It is said that her twin sons, Lava and Kush, were born and raised here under the guidance of Sage Valmiki.
