The Iliad, attributed to Homer, is an epic poem set during the tenth year of the Trojan War. It focuses on the anger of Achilles, the greatest warrior of the Achaeans, and the consequences of his wrath for both the Greeks and Trojans. The poem explores themes of heroism, honor, mortality, fate, friendship, and the human and divine forces that shape events. While the narrative is framed by war, it also examines deep human emotions, especially grief, pride, and compassion, culminating in the funeral of Hector.
