Reformation Sunday

I. Solo Scriptura - 2 Timothy 3:14-17
* A. God’s Word is the final authority in all the important matters
* B. No edicts of any human authority supersede God’s Word
* 1. When man’s word stands in conflict with God’s Word, we must follow God not man - Acts 5:29
* 2. The faithful follow God’s Word

II. Solo Fide - Titus 3:5
* A. Only by placing our faith in Christ can we be made right with God
* B. True faith is complete trust in God’s Holy Word
* 1. While we will never in this life have a complete knowledge of Gods’ Word,
* 2. Faith is to trust that it is all true in every thing it says about every subject to which it speaks

III. Solo Gratia - Romans 3:23; 6:23
* A. We are all fallen sinners and are headed towards eternal judgment
* B. God responds with grace to undeserving sinners by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross

IV. Solus Chrisus - 1 Timothy 2:5-6
* A. Jesus Christ alone is the only mediator between God and man
* B. Our right standing with God depends solely upon the merits of Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross

V. Soli Deo Gloria - 1 Corinthians 10:31
* A. Our chief end in life is to glorify God in everything
* B. When we live for Him and His glory we find ultimate fulfillment for we then find what we were made for
