How Jesus Lived - Jesus Calms the Storm

Sometimes God doesn’t remove the storm right away — He calms you first.

📖 Mark 4:39 (CSB)

“He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Silence! Be still!’ The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

The same Jesus who slept through the storm now stands and speaks — and creation obeys.
With just three words, “Silence! Be still!” the waves fall flat and the chaos quiets.

The Greek word for “rebuke” here is ἐπιτιμάω (epitimáō), meaning to command sharply or restrain.
Jesus doesn’t ask the storm to stop — He commands it.

📖 Psalm 89:9 (CSB)

“You rule the raging sea; when its waves surge, You still them.”

The One who spoke light into existence now speaks peace into fear.
His Word still carries that same authority — over storms, over sickness, over hearts that feel like they’re sinking.

📖 John 14:27 (CSB)

“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.”

💭 Reflection:

What storm in your life needs to hear Him say, “Be still”?

Are you letting His peace be louder than your fear?

How has His Word brought calm to your heart before?

He still stands, He still speaks, and He still brings peace. 💛
