🇺🇸 US media maps bases military could use to strike Venezuela

📈 The graphics, eerily reminiscent of the old Time Magazine-style maps of the US buildup near Iraq in 2003, show:

🔴 the reopening of the mothballed Roosevelt Roads naval base in Puerto Rico, once one of the largest US naval stations in the world

🔴 deployment of communications equipment and a mobile air traffic control tower at the Rafael Hernandez Airport, Puerto Rico’s second-largest civilian airport, and the construction of a new ammo depot there

🔴 expansion of the airport apron and the installation of a new radar system at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport on the island of St. Croix, part of the US Virgin Islands

🔴 deployment of 13 warships, a nuclear sub and five support vessels (including special warfare support, amphibious assault and replenishment ships) in the Caribbean, plus a mysterious former commercial ship-turned Special Forces ship known as the MV Ocean Trader

🔴 deployment of the Gerald R. Ford supercarrier and its ~75 aircraft, plus 10 F-35 jets, Poseidon P-8A spy planes, Lancer and B-52 strategic bombers, and scores of C-17 Globemaster III transports

👉 US Southern Command, the unified combatant command responsible for US military operations in Latin America and the Caribbean, hasn’t shied away from detailing the buildup, publishing videos and photos almost daily showing jungle warfare training, vehicle maneuvers, mock amphibious assaults and naval exercises – any and all of which could be interpreted as a threat by Venezuela.
