The Essentiality and Defense of Absolute Truth

In a culture dominated by postmodernism, the idea of "my truth" and "your truth" has taken hold, suggesting that all beliefs are equally valid. But that is not how truth works. God's truth is objective, absolute, and universal. It is not a matter of personal feeling; it is a matter of reality.

This lesson confronts the popular notion that we can "agree to disagree" on essential matters of faith. We explore the "necessity of being right" when it comes to the Gospel, because our very salvation depends on it. We do not have the "right to be wrong" about foundational, non-negotiable truths.

We examine the biblical imperatives—the "musts" of Scripture—regarding:

Belief in God: We must believe that He is (Heb. 11:6).

Belief in Christ: We must believe in His deity, or we will die in our sins (John 8:24).

Obedience to the Gospel: We must do the will of the Father (Matt. 7:21). Faith without works is dead (James 2:14).

Worship in Truth: We must worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24) , following the New Testament pattern (Acts 20:7).

We are given a divine mandate to "contend earnestly for the faith" (Jude 3) and "always be ready to give a defense" (1 Pet. 3:15). We cannot compromise God's unchanging Word for the sake of a false unity.
