Driver Installation: Use Mint's Driver Manager (search for "Driver Manager" in the menu) to select and install the recommended NVIDIA driver (e.g., 580.95.05 or newer).
If the ltest isn't available, add the PPA with sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa and update.
For manual install, download the .run file from NVIDIA and run it in a TTY (Ctrl+Alt+F3) after stopping the display manager.
Kernel Requirements: Mint 22 ships with kernel 6.8, which supports PCIe 5.0 and the RTX 5080. Upgrade to 6.11+ via Update Manager for better optimizations if needed.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
• Boot Problems: Edit GRUB with e at boot, add nomodeset or nouveau.modeset=0.
• Driver Conflicts: Purge old drivers with sudo apt purge nvidia* before installing new ones.
• Overclocking: Use tools like GreenWithEnvy after driver install.
• Multi-Monitor/HDMI: May require reboots or config tweaks in NVIDIA Settings app.
