A medieval tower partially collapsed in central Rome

The Conti Tower in the Imperial Forums near the Colosseum began to collapse during restoration work, ANSA and Corriere della Sera report. Three workers were injured, one of whom is in serious condition.

A second collapse occurred during the rescue operation. The Rome prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation, and traffic on adjacent streets has been closed. The tower was built in the 850s and was rebuilt in the 13th century.
