UK police charge man with attempted murder over train stabbing that wounded 11

A 32-year-old man, Anthony Williams from Peterborough, has been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder after a mass stabbing on a train in England that injured 11 people.

Police say Williams also attempted to kill another person earlier that day at a London transit station.

The attack occurred Saturday evening on a train traveling from Doncaster to London, causing panic among passengers before the suspect was arrested when the train made an emergency stop in Huntingdon.

Authorities said the assault was not terror-related and that no other suspects are being sought, the Associated Press has reported.

In response, police increased security at major train stations, while the government ruled out airport-style screening as impractical despite ongoing efforts to curb knife crime nationwide.
