Judge again bars Trump administration from deploying troops to Portland

A federal judge in Oregon has blocked President Trump’s administration from deploying the National Guard to Portland until at least Friday, ruling there is “no credible evidence” that city protests justified the federal troop deployment.

The decision came after Portland and Oregon sued in September to prevent the action.

U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut, a Trump appointee, heard a three-day trial examining whether protests at the ICE building met legal criteria for domestic military use.

The judge cited over 750 exhibits presented during the trial and said a final ruling will be issued on Friday, NBC News has reported.

This ruling is part of ongoing legal disputes in Portland, Chicago, and other cities over federalized National Guard deployments amid protests.
