California Earthquake Brace & Bolt Program: My Experience - Part 1

This program helps homeowners with grants to offset the cost of a seismic retrofit to your home.
If your house was built before 1980 (when the earthquake regulations changed in California), you may be eligible to receive a grant to pay some or all of the cost of the retrofit.

Part 1 covers the application process and a before tour of the way our 1969 tract house with a crawlspace (no cripple walls) was bolted to the foundation.
Part 2 covers the construction process, a final tour of the completed job, and the reception of the rebate check from the program.

Unlike many state run programs, this one is well managed and very helpful guiding the homeowner throughout the process. They have pre-approved contractors who know what they have to do to satisfy the program requirements so your job is completed, inspected, and eligible for the rebate from the program.
