This is the first of a two-part, story driven experience where players take on the role of detective Juli Kidman, Sebastian Castellanos’ mysterious partner, in a concurrent story that looks to answer some of the questions surrounding her whereabouts during The Evil Within. Along the way she will encounter disturbing new enemies, discover new mysteries, and uncover new horrors. The Assignment gives fans of The Evil Within the perfect opportunity to discover detective Kidman’s hidden motivations and her mysterious connection to Mobius, the shadowy group thought to be behind the gruesome events of The Evil Within.

Chapter 2 - Crossing Paths:

Juli Kidman awakens in the dark sewers beneath Beacon, following the eerie voice of the Shadowy Man echoing from flickering televisions. Using her flashlight to uncover hidden Mobius symbols, she discovers new passages while learning to fight invisible Haunted using stealth and axes scavenged from the tunnels. The deeper she ventures, the more surreal her surroundings become — toxic gas chambers, safe-head puzzles, and fuse-driven machinery all guarding her escape. When the monstrous Trauma bursts from its tank, Juli must outwit the creature using shadows and timing, sneaking through sealed gates and deadly spike traps to survive. Her only lifeline is her light, revealing both the path forward and Mobius’ growing control over the nightmare.

Escaping the sewers leads Juli into a crumbling market square where reality itself begins to warp. She’s forced into a tense stealth duel with Joseph Oda, now twisted by STEM’s influence, relying on her cunning and patience to disarm him rather than kill. Reuniting with Leslie, Kidman guides him through graveyards crawling with Haunted, solving light-based puzzles to open gates guarded by towering Giants. When the Shadowy Figure returns, the world collapses into chaos, forcing Juli to flee through a nightmarish chase of illusions and grasping shadow hands. She barely escapes the entity’s reach, leaving questions about her allegiance to Mobius — and what her true purpose inside STEM really is.
