Speaker Mike Johnson · House Republicans passed a clean CR funding bill — just like the one Democrats voted for 13 TIMES under Biden (and as recently as March 2025).

So what has changed?

Democrats decided to demand $1.5 TRILLION in new spending as the price to keep the government open — including $200 BILLION for free health benefits for ILLEGAL ALIENS.
.
They demanded that to appease their far Left base and avoid their wrath.
THAT’S WHY they closed the government.
