Romance of the Limberlost, 1938

Because the girl's mother married the man the aunt loved, the orphaned girl's aunt despises her and is raising her in the Indiana timbered marsh known as the Limberlost. The girl's only friends are the forest animals and birds, and her life is on the verge of being servitude bondage. She encounters and develops feelings for a young man who wants to practice law. However, her aunt is setting her up for marriage to the richest man in the Limberlost—a nasty, inebriated bully.
