Smartmatic Makes First Appearance in Conspiracy and Money Laundering Case

Voting machine company Smartmatic (SGO Corp Ltd) made their initial appearance in federal criminal court on Oct 30, 2025.

The company was recently added as a defendant in a criminal case that already included execs and the CEO as defendants, as well as the Filipino election official who officials at Smartmatic are alleged to have bribed and laundered money to in a corrupt effort to secure over $180 million in contracts for their machines.

Smartmatic will be arraigned on charges of Conspiracy to Violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Conspiracy to Engage in Money Laundering, and Money Laundering on Nov 20, 2025.
