Andrei and Armenia Part 1: Reuniting w/ my Mom, Tsitsernakaberd, Yerablur, Republic Square & More

6 years since my last international flight.
8 years since I truly spent time with my mother.

And finally… this moment arrived.

Through years of trials — immigration, wars, business struggles — we pressed on. And now, by God's grace, I flew from 📍Tampa International Airport to finally reunite with my mom in 📍Yerevan, Armenia, my homeland.

My first time ever in the Republic of Armenia. My first deep breath of its air. My first tearful smile seeing her.

I stayed at the 📍My Cloud Transit Hotel in 📍Frankfurt International Airport during a 12-hour layover, prepping for my 📘Scuba diving course at Lake Sevan. Eventually, I made it — exhausted, inspired, and grateful.

Our first day was unforgettable:

📍Yerablur Military Cemetery — so many 17, 18, 19-year-old heroes… beyond heartbreaking.

📍Tsitsernakaberd Genocide Memorial — painful, yet powerful. A monument to never forget.

📍Jijil Tavern — soul-warming food: Kharcho soup, Lavash, Lyulya kebab, summer salad.

📍Republic Square — lights, music, laughter, fountains.

📍Northern Avenue — music, families, energy, hope.

The city surprised me: a blend of modern and unmistakable old Armenian soul — beauty perched on hills with mountains in view.

It’s only the beginning.
