Chapter Summary and Overview:

Hebrews 10 summarizes that Jesus' one-time sacrifice for sin is superior to the old covenant's animal sacrifices, which could never fully remove sin. The chapter emphasizes that believers are perfected through Christ's offering and can now enter God's presence with boldness. It also contains a strong warning against willfully rejecting this new covenant and a call for Christians to live by faith, encourage one another, and persevere in their hope.

Superiority of Christ's sacrifice

Inadequacy of animal sacrifices:

The Old Testament sacrifices could only be made repeatedly and served as a yearly reminder of sin, they could never truly take sins away.

Fulfillment of God's will:

God desired a body to carry out His will, which is fulfilled in Jesus. His one offering of his body on the cross makes believers holy and perfected forever.
New covenant established:

Because of Jesus' sacrifice, there is complete forgiveness of sins and no longer a need for further offerings. God's law is now written on believers' hearts.
The Christian life and the new covenant

Bold access to God:

Through Jesus' blood, believers have the confidence to enter the sanctuary and approach God's presence with a sincere heart.

Living by faith:

The righteous will live by faith, and believers are to hold unwaveringly to their hope and not shrink back from their faith.

Community and endurance:

Believers are called to encourage one another to love and good works, and not to abandon their meetings together.

Warning against apostasy

Judgment for rejection:

Those who deliberately continue to sin after knowing the truth face a fearful judgment because there is no other sacrifice for sin.
A terrifying prospect:

It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God, especially for those who reject God's Son.
