Miss Myrtice Cato and Miss Maggie Griffin, witnesses for the State in rebuttal, at the Trial of Leo Frank in the Fulton County Superior Court of Atlanta, Georgia, in 1913 (Testimony Portion From July 28 - August 21, 1913; Closing Arguments August 21-25, 1913)
Miss Myrtice Cato and Miss Maggie Griffin, both former employees on the fourth floor of the National Pencil Company, testified that they had seen forelady Rebecca Carson enter the ladies’ dressing room with Leo Frank on two or three occasions during regular working hours. They emphasized that other women were working on the fourth floor at the time these incidents occurred.
This testimony was offered to impeach Rebecca Carson’s credibility (a defense witness who denied any improper conduct by Frank) and to suggest a pattern of Frank entering private women’s areas with female employees—reinforcing the State’s narrative of immoral behavior at the factory.
