Forty Atlanta residents, all of whom had known Leo M. Frank since his arrival in the city (1908), testified that his general character was good.
This extensive character-defense parade—the largest in the trial—was offered to overwhelmingly counter the State’s attacks on Frank’s morality through dozens of witnesses alleging lasciviousness and impropriety, reaffirming his reputation among the community as honorable and upright.
