Peter Capstick: Arms of an African Safari Legend

Peter Hathway Capstick is one of the top authors of the African safari. He gave up a career in Wall Street in the 1960s to pursue his calling in Africa resulting in decades of hunting and PH work across several countries.

Well after the safari hunting's golden age, his first book, 1977's "Death in the Tall Grass," breathed new life into the genre of outdoor, adventure literature and shined an unflinching light on the violence and complexities of the hunt.

Two of Capstick's well-documented, field-tested arms come to Rock Island Auction Company this December.
