V. H. Kriegshaber, witness for the Defendant in rebuttal, at the Trial of Leo Frank in the Fulton County Superior Court of Atlanta, Georgia, in 1913 (Testimony Portion From July 28 - August 21, 1913; Closing Arguments August 21-25, 1913)
V. H. Kriegshaber, an Atlanta resident and trustee of the Hebrew Orphans’ Home, testified that he had known Leo M. Frank for three years and that Frank’s general character was good.
On cross-examination, Kriegshaber admitted his contact was infrequent:

He met Frank once a month at board meetings,
He had met him only twice at the Home,
Frank had visited often with his uncle before election to the board,
He had no social contact with Frank.

This testimony was offered to add another prominent Jewish communal figure to the defense’s character parade, linking Frank to respected charitable work at the Hebrew Orphans’ Home—countering the State’s portrayal of an isolated, predatory outsider. The limited personal interaction revealed on cross-examination tempered the weight of Kriegshaber’s endorsement but reinforced Frank’s standing in Atlanta’s Jewish philanthropic circles.
