US Space Force to Use Three Weapons To Jam Chinese Satellites Via Remote Control

The U.S. military is close to fielding two new satellite‑jamming systems — L3Harris’s Meadowlands and Remote Modular Terminals — which, along with an upgraded Counter Communications System, will give the Pentagon three openly acknowledged counter‑space jammers.

Meadowlands is in final training and exercises and is expected to be fielded this fiscal year, while the Remote Modular Terminals are being deployed overseas in a limited early‑use phase and can be operated remotely.

The systems are intended to temporarily disrupt Chinese and Russian intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance satellites that U.S. officials say pose growing threats to forces, and Bloomberg reported Pentagon plans to buy dozens of the units, Bloomberg has reported.

The Space Force emphasizes the jammers are defensive and narrowly targeted, and is standing up a Space Electromagnetic Tactical Operations Center (using the “Bounty Hunter” surveillance system) to coordinate and detect electromagnetic interference against U.S. satellites.
