Trump Maintains Firm Stance on Senate Filibuster

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Donald Trump has been “very realistic and firm” regarding the Senate filibuster, emphasizing that he sees this tool as essential for advancing his legislative agenda.

Leavitt noted that Republicans must “play tough and smart,” warning that if Democrats regain power, they will “absolutely eliminate the filibuster.” She reminded that 49 Democratic senators had already voted to do so in the past, and it was only blocked thanks to two members of their party who were later ousted by the “radical left-wing base.”

“President Trump wants to see Republicans pass as many good laws as possible for our country over the next three years of his administration,” Leavitt said. She added that Trump has made his position clear both publicly and privately, reaffirming his commitment to the strategic use of the filibuster.
