The evolutionary progression of the Holocaust saw the level of killing and methods escalate and evolve over time. Mass killings in the east throughout Poland and the Soviet Union in open fields and forests with deep pits excavated for the dead were eventually replaced by establishment of the concentration and extermination camps. But there was another area of consideration that was exploited, something that would horrify the world and that was medical experimentation on living human beings and after the war Dr. Josef Mengele became one of the most wanted human beings in history.
