This is not a MP7... But it is Heckler and Koch's highly anticipated entry and already crowded micro-compact concealed carry market. With systems like the Smith and Wesson Shield plus, Sig Sauer P365, Springfield Hellcat and the Glock 43, oh and the Canik MC9, Taurus G4x Shadow Systems CR920.. Yes there is a lot of competition in the concealable 9mm market. The CC9 from H&K does have a few stand out features. I can't think of a more left hand friendly compact handgun than the CC9. With true ambidextrous controls for slide lock/ release and magazine release this is a must try if you are a lefty. The CC9 is a completely new design, not just and evolution of earlier platforms. The VP9SK and P30SK were chopped down versions of the P30 and VP9 that seem to have not garnered much attention from the shooting public. The Micro-compact market has been going strong for almost a decade and the CC9 may seem a little late to the game. But after shooting it H&K gave this the time it needed for the mages to do their Kraut Space Magic. The recoil is the best for any micro-compact that I can remember. There are some not so great aspects to it. The trigger has a lot of take up and although smooth and clean braking at 5-5.75lbs I wish it broke earlier in it's travel. The iron sights are ok with a serrated blacked out rear and a tritium vial up front, until you put an optic on the CC9. While cut for an RMSc pattern, with both optics I tried the irons are too low to get any kind of co-witness. And it's just barely so. another half a millimeter would have made all the difference. The flush fit 10 round mag did allow my pinky to contribute anything, but the 12 round with a finger rest made a huge difference. If H&K were to introduce a CC9L with a 15 round magazine and another half inch of barrel it might come to replace my long time carry Sig P365XL. And if Ernest Langdon got in there and did his magic (specifically on the trigger) I would definitely be on board. H&K did not disappoint this time. Except for the fact that we still don't have an MP7...
