On November 4, 2025, Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old Democratic Socialist and New York State Assembly member, was elected mayor of New York City, marking a historic turning point in the city's political landscape. The Associated Press called the race shortly after polls closed, confirming Mamdani’s victory over former Governor Andrew Cuomo (running as an independent) and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
Zohran Mamdani won the 2025 New York City mayoral election with 50.4% of the vote, defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo (41.6%) and Republican Curtis Sliwa (7.1%).

Zohran Mamdani (Democrat): 1,036,051 votes (50.4%)
Andrew Cuomo (Independent): 854,995 votes (41.6%)
Curtis Sliwa (Republican): 146,137 votes (7.1%)

On November 4, 2025, Mikie Sherrill, a four-term Democratic U.S. Representative, was elected Governor of New Jersey, defeating Republican Jack Ciattarelli by over 14 points.
Sherrill secured 57% of the vote compared to Ciattarelli’s 42.4%, winning a decisive mandate. A former Navy helicopter pilot and federal prosecutor, she centered her campaign on standing up to President Donald Trump and protecting healthcare and social programs
Mikie Sherrill (Democrat) won the New Jersey gubernatorial election with 56.3% of the vote, defeating Jack Ciattarelli (Republican), who received 43.1%.

Mikie Sherrill: 1,805,244 votes (56.3%)
Jack Ciattarelli: 1,384,601 votes (43.2%)
Total Votes: ~3.2 million
Sherrill secured strong support across North Jersey, including in Essex, Bergen, and Hudson counties, while Ciattarelli performed well in more rural and suburban areas.
Abigail Spanberger is an American politician and former intelligence officer who was elected Governor of Virginia in 2025, becoming the state’s first female governor.
Abigail Spanberger (Democrat) won the Virginia governor’s race with 57.2% of the vote, defeating Winsome Earle-Sears (Republican), who received 42.6%.

Abigail Spanberger: 1,921,472 votes (57.2%)
Winsome Earle-Sears: 1,433,562 votes (42.6%)
Write-ins: 6,706 votes (0.2%)
Total Reported Votes: 3,361,740
Spanberger, a former U.S. Representative and CIA officer, becomes Virginia’s first female governor. She succeeds Republican Glenn Youngkin, who was term-limited.
