Chapter Summary and Overview:

Revelation 7 summarizes two groups of people who will be saved during a time of judgment: the 144,000 sealed servants of Israel, who are protected by a divine seal, and a great multitude from every nation, who have been redeemed through the blood of the Lamb and are in heaven worshipping God. This chapter acts as a pause between the sixth and seventh seals, showing that even during God's wrath, salvation is available.

The sealing of the 144,000

Four angels are instructed to withhold the winds of judgment until the servants of God are sealed.

Another angel with the seal of the living God commands them not to harm the land, sea, or trees until God's servants are sealed on their foreheads.

The 144,000 are identified as being from the twelve tribes of Israel, and the seal signifies God's protection and ownership over them.
The great multitude in heaven

John sees a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language.

They are described as standing before God's throne, clothed in white robes and holding palm branches.

An elder explains that they are those who have "come out of the great tribulation" and have "washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb".

In heaven, they will be eternally blessed, with God dwelling among them, no longer experiencing hunger, thirst, or pain, and God will "wipe away every tear from their eyes".
