Autumn | OIRGINAL Lyrics | Poem to Song

Written at some point in 2012 and inspired by the rose bush in my backyard (photo). It goes into hibernation during the winter. I always look forward to it blooming again in the spring, and it has yet to disappoint. I purposefully made it into a song that's easy to dance to, so make of it what you will.

Sorry for the poor AI pronunciations on a few of the words, but this one is the best rendition out of around twenty different versions. I am done messing with it so, it's good enough.

Last rose of summer,
folded neat and slow.
Melting into shadow,
where wild thorns grow
that raised it graceful
into vibrant beauty.

Hold on one last tepid night
with exhaled farewell
to daylight's fading glow,
waiting for summer to come again,
to see rose's bloom upon the morn.

Seasons turn and frostbite burns,
the loop keeps spinning.
Every ending is a beginning
In the rose garden of life.

Until it meets again the light,
Until it hails again the day,
Until it feels again the warmth,

Falling trees and browning leaves,
come with chilly autumn breeze.
Rose thorns remain but petals close
with coming winter's frost and snow
upon summer-end's final glow.

Trading gilded gold
for futures unknown,
Hushed desires lay in wait,
but roots remain, they relate
to heart's yearn delayed.
