On November 4, Singapore adopted amendments to the Criminal Code, introducing corporal punishment for online fraudsters
Since 2020 alone, fraudsters have stolen approximately $4 billion from the state and the public. Now, they will be punished with caning — the minimum penalty is six strokes. Of course, this is in addition to imprisonment.
In this video, staff from the Singapore Prison Museum demonstrate how this was done before. This is exactly how cyber fraudsters will now be treated.
