On Christmas Eve, three strangers are invited to dinner by Melton, Chadwick, and O'Brien, the wealthy but lonely heads of an engineering firm. James and Jean are the only two who appear. Before their three benefactors are murdered in a plane crash and return to their former house as ghosts, they fall in love and become friends with them.
