“There’s NO Fair Use if We Make It Difficult!”

From both the RIAA and the Copyright Alliance, we hear all the fearmongering about how downloading YouTube videos—even for legitimate purposes like reaction videos, journalism, or archiving—should become a criminal act punishable by massive fines and prison time.

Essentially, they're saying that, since downloading a YouTube video is "convoluted," that makes it shift from a copy control to an access control—and so they can take away your fair use rights just by making things more difficult!
