Siskel & Ebert: 7-25-92
Note: Another July episode blended with "Andyfilm's" recording and added some local commercials with Don Gorelick's. And nearly, a "Thumbs Down" episode with the infamous disagreement on "The Hours and Times". In other words, Ebert dislikes everything that week more than Siskel and surprisingly, no reaction after the recap.
Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert reviews "Man Trouble" (Very silly Romantic Comedy from director, Bob Rafelson. Starring: Jack Nicholson, Ellen Barkin and Harry Dean Stanton.); "A Stranger Among Us" (The film is actually rated PG-13, I don't know how they goof it up during the recap. Anyway, really dreadful romantic crime thriller that's basically a "Witness" clone from Director, Sidney Lumet with Melanie Griffith in her baby voice as a New York homicidal detective trying to solve a murder in a Hasidic district. Also stars Eric Thal, John Pankow, Mia Sara, Tracey Pollan and James Gandofini.); "Honey, I Blew Up The Kid" ("I'll Fix it!" "NOOOOOO NAAAAAP!!!!" Hilarious Sequel to the Original 1989 Successful Hit! This time, Rick Moranis as the inventor, Wayne accidently blew up his toddler son with his electromagnetic ray gun that shrunk the kids before. Also stars Keri Russell and Marcia Strassman. Directed By: Randal Kleiser. Saw it in theatres!); "Cool World" (I also saw this in theatres, and it was terrible. My mom almost walked-out during the movie, even dad hated it! My brother wanted to see it on his birthday mostly for the hotness of "Holli Wood" and I also went in for another "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" for adults' clone blending with live-action and animation. I felt unclean watching it. Written and Directed By: Ralph Bakshi who also did the animation.) and "The Hours and Times" (A 60-minute film about John Lennon and his manager, Brian Epstein going on vacation to spend time together.)
Video Pick of the Week: Ebert's pick is "The Black Marble" (1980) (This film was actually part of a Special episode of "Sneak Previews" where Siskel & Ebert went to a screening on that film and gives us a learning experience of being a film critic. Outside of it, it's a very underrated Crime Romantic Comedy/Drama from Joseph Wambaugh. Starring: Robert Farnsworth, Paula Prentiss, Harry Dean Stanton and James Woods.) And a recap of Today's program.
Recorded on KATU ABC 2 in Portland, Oregon with Commercials intact.
