Canada’s Parliament has made it illegal to even discuss supply management in trade negotiations.

Bill 202 — adopted in June 2025 with zero opposition — prevents any Canadian government from negotiating on dairy, poultry, or eggs with foreign countries.

What does this mean for Canada’s credibility on the world stage?
Why did Parliament lock away one of our key trade cards right before new USMCA talks — and just as the UK walked away from its deal over cheese tariffs?
