Assassin’s Creed Shadows – The Kabukimono Corruption Begins

While walking the windswept coast near Nishinomiya, I decided to stop and pay my respects at the local shrine. But fate—like shadow—moves before the sun. On my path, I am halted by a man named Shin’nyo, calm in voice but heavy with concern. He tells me of a group of Ronin not bound by any code. Not by honor. Not even by purpose. He calls them Kabukimono—men lost to madness, masked in flamboyance and driven by chaos. They are cruel, dangerous, and completely unchecked.

While the lords pretend to rule and the people struggle beneath silence, the Kabukimono thrive in the gaps between justice. Shin’nyo gives me their names—not just names, but warnings carved into the land:

The Ghost General

Peacock

Laughing Man

Corrupt Blade

Chief Cuckoo

Big Sueki

Grave Dancer

…and finally, Ember

That last name stops me. Ember. I have already met him. Already killed him. Already cleansed that corruption in flame. Forcing him to die in his own flames. Was it instinct? Was it fate? Did my blade move on its own—or was I guided by something greater? Perhaps the ancestors whisper louder than I know.

Either way, one has fallen. The others will follow. The Kabukimono are another blight upon this land… and I will not look away.
