Interviewer: “What does Remembrance Sunday mean for you? What’s your message?”
Alec: “My message is… I can see in my mind’s eye the rows and rows of white stones — all the hundreds of my friends that gave their lives.
But for what? The country of today? No… I’m sorry.
The sacrifice wasn’t worth the result we have now.
What we hoped for — our freedom — it’s even worse now than it was.
That’s not what we fought for.”

Host: “Oh, I’m sorry you feel like that, but please know that so many of us — my generation, my children — are grateful. It’s our job now to make this country the one you fought for. You were the greatest generation.”
