The V'hrak Ascendancy is a species defined by honor. Their wars are glorious, poetic, set-piece battles. When their fleet arrives at the "primitive" human mining moon of Tartarus, they offer the inhabitants a 'Noble War'—a chance to surrender or be honorably defeated in glorious combat.

When the V'hrak send an unarmed Herald, the humans see it as a worksite hazard and "accidentally" destroy it with an automated ore-hauler. When the V'hrak fire a "warning shot," they hit a refinery and are "accidentally" assaulted by a corrosive chemical cloud.

This is the story of an honorable fleet versus an industrial disaster zone. The V'hrak came for a duel. They are about to find out what it means to be 'salvage'.
