Questioner: "Can you give us an update on the USA shutdown?"

How is the shutdown affecting you?

For use, we’re on a fixed income. Like a lot really old a decrepit people like me. When we retired 9 years ago we were doing alright, and then inflation hit. Especially through the ‘Go Brandon’ years it was like a boa constrictor.

And maybe you can relate working a job that paid a fixed hourly rate and that’s it.
For many years I worked a job, which was salaried that I loved. The Salvation Army got their monies worth.

I am thankful for what receive. We continue to have our needs met with not much to spare.

It was Jesus who gave us the jobs at the The Salvation Army. I had praying and fasting for the right job to come along.
Wife and I had started several churches for a small denomination. We were supported spiritually and emotionally but pretty much it was work five or six days a week, to use an old expression ‘build the wagon and ride on it too’ meaning to build the church attendance and ride the wheels also. Tough knee bone grinding work. It is where I learned how to pray.

PRAYER is the work.

A place to come to meet with God. A place to complain to someone who can make a difference. I found I couldn’t stay my knees. So began to pace back and forth with my Bible open. It was there in December of 1999 God began to give me a vision of a ministry to the homeless in Portland.
If I had known how hard the work was with the homeless, I don’t believe I would have backed away.
I was used to hard work. It was spiritually hard and emotionally hard. We were scraping the financial bottom then also.
I broke nearly every molar in my moth from caring for the needy people.

I asked an old Saint I knew; how do you choose with whom to work?
She said it’s simple. The ones who brighten before you.

I wasn’t quite sure what she meant, but I was determined to find out because I couldn’t help all 200 or 300 homeless who filed passed me every.

It would be one of the few who seemed to brighten while walking by me to get a simple fare of Glop. It was glop because when it hit the plate the sound of it hitting the plate went ‘glop.’ It was nutritionally sound but it was glop nonetheless.

It was also working for The Salvation Army that I learned people are overburdened with guilt and fear. It doesn’t matter which economic strata they come from they have debilitating guilt and fear of what God may do them next. It wasn’t God who puts guilt and fear but Satan who is the accuser of everyone.

I have got far afield from my subject. Someone asked me if I wanted to invest to make a lot of money. I let them know I had no money to invest. And, if Jesus wanted me to have a lot of money, he would send it to me.

Sometimes people forget that Mammon is the root of all evil. I have determined to not worry about what someone else is doing but what Jesus is doing. I want to be bright enough, spiritually, he will make a way for me. Spiritually, Emotionally and Physically because I belong to Jesus. I belong to him. I am a servant of the most high. I Am God’s Man, that’s how I announce myself on X.com.
