November 9th

November is a very important month to the History of the German Reich and November 9 is a significant day. On November 9, 1923, the NSDAP marched on Munich's Feldherrnhalle led by Adolf Hitler, who would take power 10 years later, During the Beer Hall Putsch, 16 NSDAP members were killed whom Adolf Hitler commemorated as "blood martyrs" or Blutzeugen. The Date November 9th was there forth to be a National Holiday called Reich Day of Mourning or "Reichstrauertag"., Every November 9th, the anniversary of the putsch, a major procession was held in Munich. The march was retraced the original route from the Bürgerbräukeller beer hall to the Feldherrnhalle and Königsplatz, where the clashes with police took place. Also On November 9, 1938, NSDAP members and mobs of Germans set synagogues on fire and plundered jewish-owned businesses. About 100 jews were killed in the pogrom called Kristallnacht, "Night of Broken Glass".
