Now for anyone who is living under a rock? Bathory single handedly crafted what we have all come to know as the extreme metal sub genre known as “Black Metal” sure, some other early artists of era had some ingredients of the genre in their framework, but Bathory clearly had it down from day 1 and no other band in history in my opinion had such a tremendous influence and impact on the world like Bathory did especially when talking about extreme metal within the deep underground at this time.

Quorthon is the sole member of Bathory but had session musicians and they only ever played a handful of live shows! Tragically he died in 2004 on Heart Failure (R.I.P. Quorthon)
