Pope Innocent VII (Cosimo de’ Migliorati), born in Sulmona around 1339, was elected pope in 1404 during the Western Schism. A learned and upright churchman, he sought to restore order in Rome and work toward healing the divisions within the Church, though political turmoil and violence hindered his efforts. He died in 1406, remembered as a sincere shepherd who strove to uphold the dignity of the papal office amid great difficulty.
