With her small, fragile body, she tried to survive after being left alone when her home was bombed.

The child, Wafaa Hamad (4 years old), from the Al-Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City, was the only survivor of her family after their home was targeted on August 31, 2024. All her family members were killed, and Wafaa was left carrying on her tiny body the harshest scars of war.

Wafaa suffered a complete amputation of her right leg, a severe tear in her left leg where the bone was stripped from the flesh, intestinal damage, and a serious head injury that left her in a long coma. The stitches of her wounds were visible across her small belly.

Despite her frail body, she endured pain and agony for days, fighting death alone — without family or support.
On September 3, 2024, her little heart stopped beating, and Wafaa passed away, after her body could no longer bear the immense suffering.
