The Gleno Dam collapse in Italy occurred at 6:30 a.m. on December 1, 1923. As a result of the destruction of the dam's buttress, 4.5 million cubic meters of water burst out of the reservoir, flooding several villages and killing at least 356 people. The remains of the dam still bear traces of the disaster and are a place of pilgrimage and tourist attraction. The town of Vilmine has opened the Gleno Exhibition Space (Spazio Espositivo Gleno), which displays documents and photographs recounting the disaster.
