Having received permission from David, Absalom travels to Hebron where he deceitfully manipulates the people to align with him in a coup against the king. King David flees the city with his loyal followers and most of his household, but he directs the priest: “Carry the ark of God back into the city. If I find favor in the eyes of the LORD, He will bring me back and show me both it and His dwelling place. But if He says thus: ‘I have no delight in you,’ here I am, let Him do to me as seems good to Him’” (2 Samuel 15:25-26 NKJV). David’s attitude and humble submission to God’s will serves as our example when we likewise suffer consequences of sin in our lives.
Pastor Kevin shows how King David’s flight and temporary stay in the land of the Ammonites foreshadows King Jesus’ rejection by the Jews, the Church Age, and His future return to Jerusalem to establish His kingdom on Earth.
