The Duality of the Father and Son: Is God a Trinity? Part 2

In part two of the trinity series, Tom Stapleton explores the biblical duality of the Father and the Son—two divine Beings united in nature, purpose, and glory.

From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture reveals not a triune mystery, but a Father who is supreme and a Son who is begotten, exalted, and one with His Father in mind and mission. Together, They share a single divine Spirit—the Spirit of the Father, given also to the Son, and poured out upon believers as a double portion of Their shared life and power (John 7:37–39).

Through dozens of passages, we see this divine partnership revealed:

John 17:3–5 – The Father is the only true God, and Yeshua the Messiah is the One whom He sent, now glorified with the same glory He had before the world was.

Colossians 1:18–20 – The Son is the visible image of the invisible God, through whom all things were created and reconciled.

Psalm 24:7–10 and Revelation 19:13–17 – The King of Glory, the Word of God, rides forth in righteousness and power.

Isaiah 9:6 and Matthew 1:22–23 – The promised Son is called Mighty God and “God with us.”

Mark 2:3–11 and Luke 3:21–22 – The Son exercises divine authority on earth, and the voice of the Father, represented when His Spirit descended at Yeshua's baptism shows the unity between heaven and earth.

Throughout this study, Tom reveals how the Bible consistently distinguishes between the Father as the Source of all, and the Son as the perfect Image and Word through whom the Father works. The Holy Spirit is not a third being, but the shared presence and power of both—the Spirit of the Father and of the Son (Romans 8:9–11, John 14:16–18).

This teaching challenges traditional interpretations of the Trinity and returns to the simplicity of Scripture:

“Hear, O Israel: Yehovah our God, Yehovah is one.” — Deuteronomy 6:4

Yet within that oneness, the Father and Son operate in perfect unity—a divine duality that reveals love, authority, and shared glory.
