Illusion of Knowledge: Infectious Disease Physician Jake Scott | Aaron Siri

On 11 September 2025 the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations held a hearing entitled, "How the Corruption of Science has Impacted Public Perception and Policies Regarding Vaccines."

Three expert witnesses attended:
Dr Jake Scott - infectious disease physician, Stanford University
Dr Toby Rogers - holds a PhD on The Political Economy of Autism
Aaron Siri - human rights lawyer at New York firm Siri & Glimstad

Dr Scott was shown to have a serious case of Dunning Kruger, whereby being an ID physician from a prestigious university gave him the impression that he therefore knows all about vaccines. He clearly does not, as the hearing showed. Human rights lawyer Aaron Siri, on the other hand, was able to rebut Dr Scott with ease. For example when Dr Scott claimed that there are 661 studies proving vaccines don't cause autism, Mr Siri responded with the facts:

- 567 trials were for non-routine vaccines (e.g., cholera, typhoid) irrelevant to the CDC schedule.

- Of the remaining 94, 70 did not involve healthy children.

- Of the remaining 24, 21 did not involve a U.S. licensed vaccine.

- This leaves only 3 studies claimed to have an inert control.

But the analysis goes deeper. These final three studies completely unravel the argument:

1. Varicella (Chickenpox) Trial: The "inert" control was an injection of neomycin, an antibiotic. This is not physiologically inert.

2. Gardasil 4 Trial: The vast majority of the control group received an aluminum adjuvant injection. A tiny subgroup labeled as the "placebo" received an injection containing L-histidine, sodium borate, and yeast protein—a cocktail of active chemicals, not an inert saline solution.

3. Gardasil 9 Trial: The few hundred who received a saline placebo only did so after first receiving three doses of the active Gardasil 4 vaccine. This is not a true control group.

The conclusion is inescapable. The foundational safety claim—that these vaccines were tested against a harmless saline placebo—is not just exaggerated; it is demonstrably false.

This isn't a minor scientific nuance. It is a critical flaw in how we assess and understand vaccine safety. The public deserves transparency and rigorous science, not misleading statistics.

After appearing to have been shown as far less informed than he believed, Dr Scott then attempted to suggest that "anti vaxxers" are threatening doctors and health professionals. Mr Siri rebutted him with common sense and decency. Hear this exchange at around 2h33m in the 3 hour video link above.
